A Life of Love, Sacrifice & Purpose
MiKariann was just 14 years old when she became a mother. With minimal resources and no safety net, she raised four children on her own. She worked multiple jobs, sacrificed everything, and built a family through sheer will and unconditional love. She was the kind of mother who made something out of nothing — because her children deserved everything.
On February 22, 2024, MiKariann passed away following complications experienced while in a nursing care setting. What began as a manageable health issue progressed more rapidly than expected in less than three months. Her experience revealed critical gaps in care and support in the most fundamental way.
Her daughter became an overnight caregiver with no medical knowledge, watching the system fail someone she loved in real time. That experience — the helplessness, the rage, the grief — is the reason MiKariann Kares™ exists.
This organization ensures no family goes through what ours did. Every program, every service, every decision we make is rooted in the belief that genuine care — the kind MiKariann gave her children — should be the standard, not the exception.
She made something out of nothing for her children. Now we’re building something that will last forever — in her name.
